:: White
White color - that is a symbol of purification, righteousness, innocence - a symbol of Holiness. We usually associate Holiness with Christian religion, however Holiness in its initial meaning is a good touch of Superior Mind, when pure spirit is able to contact macro world through white color. By means of White Materia, Aerith calls for exactly this Holyness. White color is also considered as a color of "deputy of sun" appointed from above, governors not chosen by people. In ancient Egypt where people believe that pharaoh is a container for superior spirit, he dressed in wide white clothes which creases symbolized rays of sun (form this takes its origin an idea to goffer fabric). Black is a color, which consumed all other colors. It is a symbol of wisdom and grief because of it. Black color is also considered as a metaphor for change of condition, disavowal, aloofness. Sephiroth is the only one in his own way, a unique creature, and it deprived from him lion's share of easiest human pleasures. His black clothes adds sad tinge to the events in Nibelheim when knowledge that were discovered brought despair and suffering to Sephiroth. Clothes of spirits - is a sign of their grieved renunciation from their previous personalities, from their egos. Black water changes children in AC making obedient marionettes from them. Black material changes habitual world once and for all. Stunning, remembering effect of confrontation between results of actions of Black and White materias at the end of the Game events is emphasized with psychophysical impact to a human subconsciousness from two polar energies: the one that consumes light and the one that reflects it.

:: Violet
Violet color for a long time was a popular symbol. Violet color born, as said, as a result of a struggle or love between red and blue - in other words it is a sum of two opposite colors of the specter. Probably, such its nature explains transfer of some important symbols to the violet color: justice, presence of mind, sublimity, nobility, power, perfection, peace. In fairy-tales the most beloved dress is "of the color of sunset sky", that is violet. After people learned how to extract purple its price became extremely high not only because of complexity of its producing but also because of meaning encoded in it. In the Middle Ages a man who dared to go out dressed in violet could be executed, because violet color - the color of chosen ones. Madonna is frequently portrays in purple coverlet. Violet uniform of 1st classes in SOLDIER says about their small number, about they are chosen ones, about their merited spiritual and physical power, about their peacemaking activity - as we remember, Shin-Ra and its SOLDIER have stopped civil and internal wars all over the world. It is interesting to mention, that Hamlet dresses violet costume when his mother betrays her husband's memories - Shakespeare is considered as master of metaphors and symbolical allusions. Also violet - a symbol of sorrow about imperfect world and moral loss of mother; violet clothes were dressed by people who abandoned their families.

:: Red
Semantics of red color are varied but goes back to the one single root: red color means deep suffering, and often - for the sins of others, self-sacrifice, catharsis. Vincent wears red cape and red band that accentuates his story - self-sacrifice and suffering for other's sins. In AC Cloud party members wear red ribbons in memory of Aerith's sacrifice as if emphasizing by that their readiness to pay their debt - do not allow her sacrifice appears to be vain. On Cait Sith there is red cape - after realizing himself as living creature Cait Sith sacrifices himself in the Temple of the Ancients. Fire catharsis happens at Nibelheim when Sephiroth burns out the town and releases its inhabitants from slow death in evaporations of Mako. A multi-layer meaning of Shin-Ra President's and Scarlet's clothes cost to be marked separately. Dressed in dark-red President is obsessed by the idea to find the Promised Land. Traditionally, dark-red, ruby and vinous tones symbolized unquenchable passion and unlimited authority. I might look like the color of President's clothes should accentuate exactly this. However, by combination the idea of suffering with insane behavior and with fragments of President's speech inside Honeybee Inn, we are able to say that his diabolism to find the Promised Land roots in the wish to bring back to life some "Dear Queen". Scarlet color is considered as a sign of belonging to the ruling clan. Accordingly, it is possible to suppose that Scarlet, clothed in red dress, is a relative of the President. Defiant cut of her dress as if shouts about its belonging. The name "Scarlet" means not only the red color but also is an euphemism for a sign of fallen woman. Thus we see that the presence of red color capaciously discovers several layers of information about characters at once without any additional waste of time for dialogs and getting of the subject of the story.

:: Blue
Blue is traditionally associated with the sky. Closeness to the sky is the most obvious and metaphorical meaning of this color. Blue also means the depth of knowledge, dreaminess, and inventiveness. In the Game Cid wears blue jacket, in AC a blue T-shirt is on him, Reeve wears blue suit - the color emphasizes inclinations and abilities of the characters. However, also blue is considered as "equalizing" color - we see that simple Shin-Ra soldiers wear blue uniform and it is almost impossible to distinguish them one from another, what is evidently shown during elucidation of the events in Nibelheim.

:: Yellow
Yellow - a signal, warning color (lets remember yellow signal of traffic lights and yellow football card, and also (in combination with black) signs of the danger for life). Gravely-yellow - a symbol of envy, treason, pettiness, diabolism and buffoonery. Dimly-yellow Palmer's suit warns about insignificancy and greediness of its owner and shows one of the reasons, because of which, the Space Exploration Department does not get any financial support. However, in front of group photograph of Cloud party at the end of AC we see yellow flowers; yellow flowers Cloud brings to Zack's grave. In the color-score of that scene the flowers are shown as a bright spot and catch eyes at once. What can they symbolize if yellow color appears to be a pointer to negative motives? The flower of yellow color is all-sufficient symbol. If we throw away ambivalent interpretations and superstitions we see a metaphorical designation of calmness and pacification through the presentation of anxious yellow color in a form of a flower, that will inevitably fade and as if will take with it all troubles. In that way, yellow flowers in front of the photo remind to a viewer about tests stood by every party member and stands as a wish for more calm days in future.

:: Gray
Gray is traditionally regarded as incarnation of ashes - sad remains, as a symbol of loss and grief. After red color of fire and suffer burns down, remains gray color of humility with one's loss. Gray and especially silver are also means impossibility of return. Ashy-silver hairs of spirits - is the emphasizing of their already happened passage into another state and of the irreversibility of this passage. In combination with black as a symbol of disavowal, gray as if incarnates a fact of concession to Jenova cells and impossibility of return to the previous personality. That is we see that black-silver look of the spirits that is not only a style picture but also is a well thought-out element of image. Silver hairs of Sephiroth symbolize a depth and insuperability of the abyss between him and common people, and also the sorrow about his tragic and unusual destiny. In AC we Sephiroth as Gray Wolf.

Accordingly, viewer looks at Sephiroth in this scene with Zack's eyes, that is why it probably also reproduces his emotions and feelings from a view of irretrievably leaving friend.
