Intro
But, I do things differently.
Rufus Shinra

Reading Homer's "Iliad" Heinrich Schliemann discovered Troy. A work of art leaded a man, alien to science as much as an underground weapon dealer could, to sensational discovery. This event serves as a proof that it is difficult to overemphasize value of a work in any form - be it a book or a video game - for the world culture and history. Final Fantasy VII - is the best gift of video games industry if we look at it not like at a fairy-tale but like a way of description of the reality through the universal language of symbols of the historic-mythological fund, that will be actual even when super modern scientific reference books will have became anachronisms. The Game offers to a player not so much to take a part in the fascinating action as to solve a huge marvelously beautiful puzzle composed of scattered over the outline of the events pieces.

Over Final Fantasy is a result of analysis and compilation of facts, a tale about symbols, images and story lines; about what hides behind the shell of a myth and behind the format of RPG. The distinction between OFF7 and similar projects is in the fact that usually facts offered to readers are desultory and disconnected from the narration and there are no any summaries in the context of the Game. For example, the name Jenova is often associated with the religious meaning, and a lot of abstract theories far from subjects of the Game plot are made from this. According to these theories Tetragrammaton for unintelligible reasons is the name of ominous space arrival who tries to destroy the Planet. Besides, it is unambiguously said in the Game that the name "Jenova" means "Calamity from the Sky" in Cetra language. In its theories and argumentations OFF7 does not get off the subject and examines every issue through the prism of FFVII.

We realize that many of what is written may look unusual and strange for common reader and can raise rejection. There is an episode in the Game that as well as possible demonstrates obstinate sluggishness for which only one point of view exists and all others even confirmed with proofs are not taken into account. This episode - when approaching to the North Crater the photo of Tifa, Zack and Sephiroth is shown to Cloud he answers: : "I... should be in the picture. Even if I'm not in there, no worry. This is just an illusory world Sephiroth made up." There is no Cloud on the real picture, but he repudiates any proofs of that having once created his saving illusion-barrier. Unfortunately, a part of people acts exactly the same: "I think that Aerith loved Cloud. And it does not matter which counter-evidences exists in the Game". We sincerely hope that personal mistakes and opinions will not prevent unbiased appraisal of the content of OFF7 and the content of OFF7 in its turn will not affect anyone's feelings. This is not a mission of OFF7 - to persuade the fandom into the truth our point of view. If the work is a source of information then we - viewers or players - are its recipients, and the mission of this project - to receive and interpret as much as possible from what is said to us by the cult Game.

We wish you good reading.
