Q: Did notice that you guys only focus on the 'knowledge' aspect of symbolism(pertaining to mythology, archetypes, etc.), rather than the 'wisdom' aspect(psychology, character anaylsis, word analysis, motivation analysis, etc.). Why is that?
A: At this time, there are published only two episodes, it is 1/7 of planned content. These episodes, really, are focused on mythological and symbolical aspects of the Game concept. We start our project from global things like historical references, philosophical implications, and rules of the FFVII world. Of course, it is not a whole aspect we plan to examine, and from this point we proceed to characters, scenes, and motivation anaylsis. We plan to make articles devoted to single characters, scenes and each plot line.

"Re: Sephiroth. More than Human"
Q: I can't help but feel
that this interpretation began with an agenda - namely, to prove that
Sephiroth is not evil, and that the philosophy behind his name extends
into something deeper than the superficial. The result, I feel, is a
bit of a square-peg-round-hole problem. It's true that Sephiroth
means more than his name, and that the story of the divine man is
relevant to Sephiroth as a character. The trouble is, Sephiroth is NOT
the divine man - he is a perversion. He has been corrupted by
knowledge of what he is supposed to have been. it could be argued that
in an ironic way he fufills the role of the absolute man, but only does
so by leading Cloud and AVALANCHE to rebellion, and and thusly Aeris
into action, and eventually the world to salvation. <...> So I did drop a little notice yesterday and I realized, I forgot to
tell you how incredibly and unbelievably cool I think this project is.
I really hope to see it completed. But that Sephiroth article still
bugs me! He is an impure, twisted version of what he was made to
represent. His plan is to return everyone to the lifestream, but only
by killing and ruling them. I'd be interested in seeing that
discussion pop up again in a discussion of Aeris as the messdiah,
though...
A: We understand, what you are talking about, and agree with your
arguments. This article is a part of currently uncompleted series of
articles devoted to Sephiroth, Jenova, and their reasons and
motivations. So at this time our statement that Sephiroth is not evil,
really looks inconsistently with the Game events. This article is
published now, because it is also a part of the series devoted to
symbols and mythologems of the Game. We hope, when the new series will
be published, our theory will become more strong and clear. |
